The Smart Belt is a seizure monitoring belt prototype for children with epilepsy to measure epileptic activity. The belt is wrapped around the user's chest and secured with two snaps. An electronic module is connected to the belt. The resistor fabric expands and contracts along with respiration. The belt is linked to a smartphone or external computer and measures respiration rate and Electrodermal activity. It is also linked to skin conductance and detects respiratory failure, sleep apnea, and any high Electrodermal response typically present in people with epilepsy, and is linked to alert the caregiver.
