The Range of Motion (ROM) Dance DVD combines ROM exercises with basic principles of T’ai Chi Ch’uan, an ancient Chinese exercise that promotes health and longevity. The ROM Dance is a unique exercise and relaxation training program for people with pain and other physical limitations (i.e., arthritis, lupus, Parkinson’s, fibromyalgia, etc.). And T’ai Chi, a relaxed, fluid, non-impact exercise form, builds strength and endurance, enhances flexibility, improves coordination, and helps relieve stress.
The ROM Dance DVD teaches participants to relax despite pain; to move gently and slowly to maintain the ability to move; and to develop an awareness of subtle changes in the body. Each “dance” takes about 7 minutes to complete, and it can be performed either sitting or standing. The Seated ROM Dance is ideal for wheelchair users. The DVD includes the ROM Dance in Sunlight and the ROM Dance in Moonlight (both of which are performed standing and seated), the seven ROM Dance principles, a guided practice for each version, step-by-step instructions, a guided relaxation session, and precautions.
