The PaceSaver Scout M series is a rigid heavy-duty powered wheelchair designed for indoor and outdoor use by large adults with lower extremity, mobility, or neurological disabilities or spinal cord injury. Both models convert from a front-wheel drive (FWD) to a rear-wheel drive (RWD)wheelchair by selecting a switch. FRAME (HxLxW): In font wheel drive, the chair 38 to 40 (model M1) or 38.75 to 40.75 (model M1-350) x 38.75 with FWD or 38.25 with RWD x 24 inches. The height with the seat back down is 29.5 to 31.5 (model M1) or 31 to 33 inches (model M1-350). The turning radius is 20.5 inches. The ground clearance is 2.5 inches. The chair disassembles for transport. Both models include anti-tippers and have a rigid suspension system. The seat frame is black and the base is available in ocean blue, candy apple red, or midnight black. CONTROLS: Integrated Shark 75-amp joystick controller. To prevent incidence of driving misdirection, the "flip-a-switch" directional drive system features Accidental Activation Prevention. An optional retractable controller mount and an attendant controller are available. FWD/RWD: Convertible front-wheel drive/rear-wheel drive. SEAT (LxW): 18 x 18 with a 20-inch high back for the standard Com-For-Back seat. The floor-to-seat height adjusts from 20.5 to 22.5 inches on model M1 and 21.25 to 23.25 inches on model M1-350; the seat-to-footplate height adjusts from 13.5 to 18.5 inches. A high back reclining Admiral's Seat, a 50-degree reclining Admiral's Seat, and a rehab (cane) seat are optional. Other seating options include an adjustable headrest; headrest extension; a 5- or 6-inch power seat lift; the Equalizer Tilt System; and specialized seating components with the rehab (cane) seat. UPHOLSTERY: Black or gray velvet or charcoal or gray vinyl upholstery is available. ARMRESTS: Flip-away padded armrests. BRAKES: Regenerative, dynamic disc parking brakes are standard. CASTERS: 7.5 inch rear caster wheels with pneumatic tires; flat free tires are optional. Each caster rotates on an articulating arm. This chair includes 2-inch front anti-tip wheels with solid tires; Stanza power anti-tips are optional. WHEELS: 11-inch drive wheels with pneumatic tires are standard; flat free tires are optional. FOOTRESTS: Front one-piece footplate that is height-, length- and angle- adjustable. Elevating leg rests and swing-away detachable footrests are optional. OPTIONS: Front bag; saddle bag; folding basket; cane holder; cup holder; and oxygen tank holder. POWER: Uses two U1 sealed batteries (not included). A 24-volt, 1.8 amp carry-on charger is standard. SPEEDS: 4.5 miles per hour for a range of 25 miles per charge. Maximum incline on hard surfaces is 8 degrees on hard surfaces and 6 degrees on soft surfaces. The maximum curb height climbed is 2.5 inches. CAPACITY: 300 pounds (model M1) or 350 pounds (model M1-350). WEIGHT: 112.5 pounds (model M1) or 132 pounds (model M1-350). The heaviest single component is 71 pounds (model M1) or 90.5 pounds (model M1-350). WARRANTY: Lifetime limited on frame; 2-year limited on electronics; 2-year limited on motor and gearbox assemblies.
