How Many Cows on the Farm Counting Game is a do it yourself activity designed for those children with learning disabilities to practice early math skills. By letting the child lead helps them to show the user what they have already learned and what skills they are interested in learning.
Step One: Gather materials.
- Farm mat (download).
- 1-2 Dice.
- Cow graham crackers (Horizons), cow figurines, or cow foam stickers.
- Laminating Pouch.
Step Two: Print and laminate the farm mat.
Step Three: Roll the die and place the correct number of cows on the farm.
Step Four: The child counts the cow crackers as they roll the dice as many times as they want. (At this level the user can work on learning numbers both by counting the dots on the die and counting the cows as they are placed on the farm mat.)
Step Five (optional): Use two dice to work on addition.
Step Six (optional): When the child decides to eat the crackers, the users can work on subtraction.
