eSight is designed for use by individuals with low vision and who are legally blind. It uses technology to capture, enhance, and display a real-time video. eSight is hands-free, mobile, and multi-use, which means that users can move seamlessly between activities, including those that would otherwise be inaccessible due to low vision. There are two main components of eSight: the headset and the controller. The headset houses a high-definition camera, OLED screens, and multiple supporting technologies used to capture and display a real-time video feed. The headset is mounted on carrier frames, which enable eSight’s proprietary “bioptic tilt,” a feature that allows the user to shift between viewing modes and engage their peripheral vision. eSight users carry a small, lightweight processing unit that does the real hard work of adjusting every pixel of the video in real time. The Controller also houses the battery, which powers eSight.
